Betfred Championship Preview | Round 4

Betfred Championship Preview | Round 4

We return to action in the Betfred Championship this weekend, with Bradford Bulls and Barrow Raiders kicking things off.

Under the Friday night lights at Bartercard Odsal, both teams will come into this game with two wins from three - and if it’s anything like their last encounter, then fans are in for a treat!

It was a tale of two halves when the sides met back in August, with the Raiders producing a thrilling second-half fightback to overturn a 16-point deficit. The scoreline ended as a 24-24 draw, but what will happen in Round 4?

On Saturday, Toulouse will welcome Hunslet to the south of France for the first time since 2011. The French side are aiming for back-to-back home wins, whilst newcomers Hunslet are still looking to get off the mark.

An unbeaten Batley are at home to York Knights on Sunday. The Bulldogs come into this match with two wins and a draw under their belt, whereas Mark Applegarth’s men are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

It was one a piece in 2024, although York did enjoy a convincing 37-6 victory over Batley in Round 21. However, there's been a complete switch in form for the two teams in their opening matches so far this season...so who will come out on top this time?

Doncaster meet with Widnes in Round 4. This could be a tough challenge for the Dons, as the Vikings enter this game after pushing rivals and Betfred Super League's Warrington Wolves all the way in the Betfred Challenge Cup last Saturday; something which they will certainly have taken confidence and belief from.

Then, there’s a huge tie for Halifax Panthers, who are table toppers after the first four rounds. Kyle Eastwood’s men have ensured a perfect start to 2025 and will be hopeful of carrying this on at the weekend when they take on Featherstone Rovers.

'Fax's most recent victory against the Rovers came in mid-2023 - and with a blistering battle on the cards, can Halifax go four from four, or will Fev find some momentum and bounce back from two tight losses in Rounds 2 and 3?

Finally, Oldham will entertain London Broncos at Boundary Park. The Roughyeds haven’t defeated London since 1995, but could this be set to change at the weekend?
